ARE YOU MOM ENOUGH?: My thoughts on 'TIME'

Yes, I have seen it! I had a few people send this article my way today. It's the latest version on TIME Magazine, with a woman on the cover with the headline "ARE YOU MOM ENOUGH?" I'm assuming the title, along with the small summary "Why attachment parenting drives some mothers to extreme," implies this woman, with her three-year-old son at her tit, is "extreme." Too big to put in a cradle-hold makes this "drastic" because he is just "too old!" -- failing to mention how many woman don't even breastfeed, which is the issue we should be looking at instead of otherizing this act -- which is completely normal in many societies. What does that say about us?  I haven't formed a complete opinion on this one -- yet, though I'm definitely tempted to head to  the library and straight for the issue. What first comes to your mind?

I was looking at the latest post on the Blacktating blog and saw a post on the famous Mowry twins, Tia and Tamera, who apparently have a reality show. In the episode, Tia, who recently had a baby, convinces Tamera to try a freshly-pumped cup of her breastmilk. Well, after a bit of reluctance not only did Tamera try it, but she liked it  -- comparing it to chai tea.

I found it funny reading some of the comments about this. Though on the Blacktating blog there were no real reactions of disgust since most of the readers are breastmilk advocates, others said it's OK since they are twins, and they may be willing to try a sip but not a full glass. And then you just know there are plenty of others freaking out over this -- right before they're off to drink their pus/ fecal matter/hormone- injected cow's milk, that is. Well, I can tell you this; I do have a twin sister, and I would probably try her breastmilk.

I wonder if Tia has ever tried her milk herself.

Breastfeeding Funnies

This video is from a television show that I believe is from the U.K., that ended up making its way to YouTube, of course, and shows a mother standing on her head while the baby crawls in and nurses. I have to emphasize this was on a television show -- with an actual audience. Do you think this would make it on any show in your neck of the woods?

I keep wondering if this was staged or not, but either way, it's really cute and pretty hilarious.

Erykah Badu On Breastfeeding (Video)

"why my breast hang low." 

I found an article on the Blacktating website tonight and had to share it. One of my favorite artists, and besides the great music of course, the emphasis was several shots of Badu nursing a sweet little baby girl during a recording session -- for the world to see! After I saw this I remembered back from my myspace days that she shared a image of her breastfeeding a baby with the caption "why my breast hang low." I checked and the image from 2007 it is still on the social networking site.
